GeoField — Browser-Native Geospatial Toolkit — 1

The Challenge

GIS professionals need simple operations but existing toolbox is fragmented. Desktop GIS is overkill, CLI tools are intimidating, online converters are privacy dealbreakers.

Our Approach

Core Tools: Field Calculator (live preview), Geometry Simplifier (teal overlay animation), Format Converter (7 output formats). Visual Language: "Field Paper" — warm off-white + survey-orange accent, topographic grid pattern, geometric display face + clean sans-serif. Privacy: No install, no login, works offline. No file ever leaves the user's machine.

The Results

A fully open-source tool that replaces desktop GIS for common data-wrangling tasks. Supports 7 geospatial formats, 40+ field calculator functions, 2 simplification algorithms with live preview, and 5 data tools — in a browser tab.

Key Features

  • Field Calculator — 40+ expression functions with live preview
  • Geometry Simplifier — Douglas-Peucker and Visvalingam-Whyatt algorithms
  • Format Converter — 7 output formats
  • 5 data tools: find-and-replace, duplicate detection, null-filling, CSV joins, coordinate formatting
  • 100% client-side — files never leave the device
  • Works offline after first load — no account required
