Writing a Call to Action That Converts

The Most Important Few Words
Your call to action (CTA) is the moment of decision. Everything else on the page exists to get the visitor to that button — so it deserves real attention.
What Makes a CTA Work
- **Action-oriented language** — start with a verb
- **Specific value** — "Get my free quote" beats "Submit"
- **Visual standout** — a color that contrasts with everything else
- **The right placement** — where intent peaks, not buried at the bottom
Reduce the Risk
People hesitate when a click feels like a commitment. Soften it with reassurance nearby: "No obligation," "Free 30-minute call," "Reply within a day."
One Primary Action Per Page
Competing buttons split attention and lower clicks. Choose the single most important action and make it the obvious choice; everything else is secondary.
Test the Words
Small wording changes can shift results meaningfully. Try a couple of versions and let the clicks tell you which speaks to your audience.
